BJP National President Amit Shah, who is on a tour of the Lingayat belt in Mumbai-Karnataka and central regions, held massive rallies in Vijayapura (Bijapur) and Davanagere towns.

Shah did not touch upon the issue of minority tag for the Lingayat-Veerashiva community, but lashed out at the Congress government over farmers’ deaths, appeasement politics and corruption.

Addressing BJP leaders at Shakti Kendra (booth-level) meetings in Mumbai-Karnataka, he said the party candidates could win 80,000 votes in an Assembly seat if each worker brought at least 15 voters to the polling booth to cast a vote in favour of the BJP.

Shah appealed to voters to ensure the BJP’s victory for the overall development of the State.

He said the Congress in Karnataka would be wiped out by a BJP ‘tsunami’ and that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would lose both from Badami and Chamundeshwari.

Addressing party workers in Bagalkot, Shah said Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa had to step down as Chief Minister in 2008 due to a conspiracy hatched by the Congress and appealed to the people to give him an opportunity to develop Karnataka. At Davanagere, Shah visited the Shri Durgamba Temple, where he performed puja. Later, he joined an election rally in Davanagere-North and Davangere-South seats in favour of party candidates SA Ravindranath and Yashwantrao Jadhav respectively.

BJP chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa took part in public rallies at Kalaburagi, comprising Gulbarga, Gulbarga Rural and Basava-Kalyana constituencies on Sunday.

Yeddyurappa, addressing massive crowds, highlighted the “corrupt practices of the Congress government” and its failures in fulfilling election promises. He assured the voters that BJP will keep in mind the interests of the people of the district.
