Declares 231 mandals drought hit

The Telangana Government will fill up about 20,000 teacher posts in the next few months and has promised to regularise jobs of hundreds of contract employees in various departments. The government also promises to provide nine hours of power supply to farmers from March 2016.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday to celebrate party’s victory in Warangal bypoll, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao said the State had declared 231 mandals (nearly one-third of mandals in the State) as drought hit. “We will submit the list to the Union Government, seeking help,” he said.

Stating that Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) victory is the endorsement of people to the government’s policies, the Chief Minister said the Government had a set a target to provide irrigation to about one lakh acres by 2021. “We have taken up various irrigation projects and redesigned some projects planned in the united State. Our aim is to provide water to one lakh acres,” he said.

Criticising the Opposition and a section of media for making baseless allegations, he said the victory in the byelection proved that the people supported the government policies.
