Senior Telugu Desam Party leader from Telangana, Mothkupalli Narsimhlu comments on the future of TDP in the new State and his suggestion here today to the leadership to merge it with the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi has created a flutter in the political circles. His remarks assume significance as they were made on the day the death anniversary of Founder of TDP, NT Rama Rao, was being observed.

Addressing media persons, the senior TDP leader said Telangana TDP was on the verge of collapse and that its leadership was not keen on aligning with the BJP.

In the interest of the party and its cadres, who have supported the TDP over the past decades, Narsimhlu suggested that the TDP supremo consider the local sentiments and merge the Telangana arm of TDP with the ruling TRS headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao. He said that the TDP cadre was disillusioned and would further disintegrate if corrective steps were not initiated.

He further went on to say that K Chandrasekhar Rao was a TDP man so were a number of leaders in TRS and merger with TRS would be mutually beneficial and also strengthen TRS and TDP cadres. Narsimhlu's comments were immediately countered by some of the local TDP leaders including Dayakar Reddy, stating that it was against the interest of the party.

The TDP leadership lobbied for five-time elected member of Assembly, Narsimhlu, to be appointed Governor. However, this did not materialise.
