Telangana has woken up to colour festivities on Tuesday as the 29th State celebrated its first Formation Day. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and his Cabinet colleagues have participated in a number of programmes to mark the event.

The Chief Minister paid tributes to the martyrs at the Martyrs’ column near the State’s Secretariat in the morning. Later, he addressed a gathering at the Parade Grounds where he recapped the developmental activities being taken up by the Government.

He said the Government would come out with a notification for 25,000 jobs next months, ending a long and arduous wait for the unemployed. He said the State could successfully address the power shortage issue this year.

He said the Government spent over Rs 24,000 crore for welfare schemes. “With a view solve the problems of the water-starved Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar districts, the State government is taking up lift irrigation schemes by spending Rs 35,000 crore,” he said.

IT Minister K T Rama Rao launched Wi-Fi facility in the Old City, making it the second spot in the city after Hussainsagar to have the facility.
