Telangana Rashtra Samithi Chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao today said that sharing of water resources, allocation of funds and opportunities in Government jobs are central to the creation of separate state of Telangana.
Speaking at meet the press organised by journalists, the TRS Chief said this is just the beginning of a long journey. Even after the creation of a separate State, for which the process has now begun, there is a long way ahead for the leadership in terms of building its infrastructure and tapping its resources.
He said water resources have not been optimally allocated to the region which is also a major cause for concern.
Ruling out the possibility of Hyderabad emerging a Union Territory or remaining a joint capital of Telangana and Seemandra, he said that Hyderabad will be seat of administration for Telangana.
Those in other regions have been demanding a UT status for Hyderabad.
Referring to the power sector, he said that Telangana has overall generation capacity of about 4,000 mw, including 1200 mw from NTPC. Therefore, there is a need to focus on augmentation of additional capacity to meet the growing requirement.
“It is possible to create fresh power generation capacity of about 10,000 mw within next five years and ensuring there is no power deficit here. This will help attract more investments,” he said.
There is potential to create high growth industrial corridors which can attract more investments, he felt.
Refraining to get into any political issues, he said, “I will not react to any political comments and wait till a bill for creation of separate State is brought about.”
On his recent comments about employees from Andhra region should go back, he said that the comment was misquoted.
He said that during his meeting with Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association, who had met to congratulate him on the moves to form a separate State, all I said, ”Andhra region employees will work for their region and those in Telangana for Telanagna.”
“I don’t understand how some have sought to interpret it as I have asked workers from other regions to go back,” he said.
