The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is leading in 11 out of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies. The party could buck the trend in the other part of the combine State, which is witnessing a victory for the Telugu Desam-BJP alliance.
Among the prominent candidates contesting in Telangana is G Vivekanand in Peddapalli Lok Sabha constitnuency in Karimnagar district. The sitting MP is trailing, trying to defend his seat. A novice to politics, Balka Suman (TRS) is leading here.
The TDP-BJP combine is leading in 3 constituencies.
Assembly trends
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) seems to have withstood the Modi wave that swept the nation. The party has won 13 Assembly seats and leading in 49 more.
Several Congress leaders D Sreenivas, J Geeta Reddy and Marri Sashidhar Reddy have lost. The party, which hoped to take the credit for creation of the Telangana State, has won five Assembly seats, while leading in 17 more seats.
The 29th State has 119 Assembly seats, requiring a party to get 60 seats to achieve simple majority.
