Delhi’s peak power demand is expected to cross 7,400 MW during this summer. To meet the demand, power distribution companies in Delhi have been ramping up capacities.
“To strengthen the distribution network, BSES discoms invested a capital expenditure of over ₹800 crore in financial year 2018-2019 and ramped up the network capacity by around 750 MVA. BSES discoms also installed around 600 new and augmented distribution transformers and laid over 650 km of cable to strengthen the network,” a BSES statement said.
“Peak power demand in BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd area of South and West Delhi, which had reached 3,081 MW during last summer, is expected to touch around 3,200 MW this year. In BSES Yamuna Power Ltd area of East and Central Delhi, the peak power demand, which touched 1,561 MW last year, is expected to be around 1,640 MW,” the statement added.
