After air conditioners, it’s now a wall paint that promises to improve air quality indoors.
Nippon Paint (India) Pvt. Ltd, owned by the Nippon Paint group of Japan, has announced the launch of its next-generation paint, Odour-less AirCare. The product uses active carbon technology which cleanses the air by continuously absorbing the indoor air pollutant called formaldehyde, and converting it into water vapour, according to a company statement.
Formaldehyde is a common indoor air pollutant found in virtually all homes and buildings. It is emitted into the air from sources such as furniture, carpeting, flooring, cabinets and wallpaper. Some people are very sensitive to formaldehyde. Children and the elderly are likely to be more sensitive to the emission, which can make them sick. Those suffering from chronic respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis are also more sensitive to Formaldehyde, says the press release. Ramakanth V. Akula, President – Decoratives, Nippon Paint (India) Pvt. Ltd, said the paint was designed for protection and high performance as it is fungus resistant, strong scrub resistant (more than 10,000 scrubs), washable and has an eggshell finish. Priced at Rs 650 a litre and Rs 3,100 for 5, it is currently available in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and will be rolled out in the other markets shortly.
