The Government has issued the final notification declaring eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) around Okhla bird sanctuary on Wednesday. The move is expected to bring relief to people who have booked flats around the area.
The notification comes just a day after Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar announced that the process of demarcating eco-sensitive zone around the Okhla Bird Sanctuary has been cleared and a notification in this regard will be issued within a week.
Following the notification, all home-buyers who have booked their flats in the area that fall outside the demarcated zone are likely to be allowed occupancy certificates of their flats.
Major reliefOccupancy certificates had not been issued for quite some time as the National Green Tribunal had restricted development of infrastructure within 10 km of the sanctuary’s boundary till the Ministry came up with a justifiable demarcation of the zone.
Javadekar said on Tuesday that the announcement will come as a major relief to the people who had booked their flats in the area and invested huge amounts of their “hard earned” money.
“It is a big relief for people who had booked (flats).”
