Mostly clear skies are forecast for tonight’s IPL6 cricket match between hosts Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Capital.

The match is perfectly timed to take advantage of the sunny interlude between successive weather-creating western disturbances, though it might get partly cloudy towards the evening.

But overcast skies will clear up by the time play is scheduled to start at 8 p.m., according to forecasts.

Western disturbances, weather systems rolling in from across Pakistan and moving east, are the principal cause of unpredictable weather in Northwest India during this time of the year.

One such disturbance has passed into the East, triggering thunderstorms and thunder squalls in East and North-East India.

The next system is forecast to enter North-West India by the weekend, according to an India Meteorological Department outlook.

This leaves the air free to warm up during the day with hardly any moisture content.

So humidity should be confined to the low 20 to 30 per cent-mark. There is little chance of precipitation through the day and into the night, forecasts suggest.

The mercury is forecast to touch a high of 36 deg Celsius, while winds would flow from a north-northwest direction clocking 10 to 15 km/h.

Towards the night, wind speeds might flag a little, and the mercury could settle at a low of 23 deg Celsius.
