The title sponsor of the Indian Premier League, PepsiCo India has invited 200 farmers from various states to watch the IPL matches this season.

The company said these farmers have been invited from the States of West Bengal, Punjab, Bihar and Maharashtra to watch the matches lives at the stadiums in Mohali, Kolkata and Mumbai.

“The farmers invited for Pepsi IPL matches have demonstrated leadership in improving yield, water conservation in agriculture and have had a long-standing association with PepsiCo India,” the beverage and snacks major said in a statement.

Vivek Bharti Vice-President-Agriculture and Corporate Affairs PepsiCo India said, “Farmers have been key contributors to our success in India and we have always held them in high regard. We work closely with them to develop sustainable farming practices and are happy that the association has been mutually rewarding. It is our pleasure and privilege to host some of our farmer friends at Pepsi IPL matches as a gesture of our gratitude.”

PepsiCo India works with over 24,000 farmers across nine states. The company said it engages with farmers through two fronts which include collaborative farming of process grade potatoes and water conservation in agriculture through innovative techniques like Direct Seeding of Rice and drip irrigation. Since PepsiCo's entry into India, agriculture has played a pivotal role in PepsiCo’s operations and the company has been sharing best agronomy practices with its farmer friends’.
