Rafael Nadal maintained first place in the men’s tennis rankings issued on Monday by the ATP while the race for the final four berths at the season-ending World Tour Finals heats up.

Spain’s Nadal has 11,520 points to rank ahead of Shanghai Masters winner Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Spain’s David Ferrer, who moved into third place at the expense of currently injured Briton Andy Murray.

Nadal, Djokovic, Ferrer and Juan Martin del Potro are assured of playing at next month’s season-ender in London, which Murray will miss over his back injury.

Six other players including former number one Roger Federer of Switzerland are vying for the remaining places at the eight-player event in the final two weeks of the regular season.
