The Telangana government seems to have started a process to rationalise its staff – it has constituted a ‘staff rationalisation committee’, with some organisations set to become redundant.
“The committee has been set up as there is a shift in the core functions and mandates of the departments,” said Telangana Finance Minister, Eatala Rajender.
He made these observations in the statutory ‘Statement of Fiscal Policy’, which will be tabled in the Assembly as part of theBudget for 2018-19.
“Technological changes, such as extensive use of computers, have also rendered some posts redundant,” the statement said.
“The committee will look into all aspects of staff rationalisation, including the relevance of the organisational structure inherited from the combined State,” it said.
It, however, has not elaborated further on the issue.
