On the 3rd of July, a new luxury store is set to take centre stage at the Parisian haute jewellery and watchmaking scene. The Maison Louis Vuitton, known for their iconic pieces worn and adored the world-over, will open its first store exclusively dedicated to fine jewellery and watchmaking, but that’s not all, as the address will also house their fine jewellery workshop. This venture is a first for the brand and the address of the store, located at 23, Place Vendôme is historic too. It is just a few metres away from 4, rue Neuve de Capucines where Louis Vuitton established his first store in 1854. The new location is an elegant townhouse built in the 17th century, in which some of the remnants of ages past, like original workbenches have been meticulously maintained. Also within the workshop will be a light-filed showcase and a view of Place Vendôme, which will aim to inspire the craftsmen who will work with precious stones and gems brought in from all over the world. Architect Peter Marino has been the design creator behind the project and he used materials like straw marquetry, Havana leather and light rosewood panelling to create a space that is opulent yet simply elegant. Three contemporary artworks are displayed as well, to showcase the house’s connection to the art of travel. Louis Vuitton’s fine jewellery collection called L’Ame du Voyage, designed by Lorenz Bäumer will be displayed in its third interpretation here, taking inspiration from Louis Vuitton’s travels.
