Between the towns of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar along the NH5 lies Pahala village, known for its rasagollas. Shops here are a must-stop for sweet lovers, as this succulent variety is not available elsewhere in Odisha. Made of a special chhena (cottage cheese) from cow milk, the sweetmeat’s fame has travelled far and wide. But, unfortunately, it does not have a shelf-life and cannot be packaged and sold across the country. So, second best, intra-city buses offload passengers here to savour it alongside other delectable traditional sweets like chhenapodas and chhenagajas .
