Eminent poets come together to offer their creative best.

All India Radio will be organising a poetry fest, All India Kavi Sammelan, on January 10 in Chennai.

Poets from all over the country would present composition in their respective languages on the occasion.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit will inaugurate the event. Fayyaz Shehryar, Director General of All India Radio, and other senior officials would participate in it.

The Chennai station is organising this multi-lingual national symposium of poets for the first time in its history.

Linguistic harmony

Introduced in 1956, the Sarva Bhasha Kavi Sammelan (National Symposium of Poets) is a creative platform for national integration and linguistic harmony through mutual interaction and coordinated presentation of the best contemporary poetry of all Indian languages.

This is a one of a kind programme wherein eminent poets of 22 Indian languages come together on one stage to offer their creative best.

The Tamil translations of the poems will be presented by M Rajendran, former Vice Chancellor, Tanjore Tamil University, along with Sahitya Akademi awardees Tilakavathi and Indran among others.

A two-hour recording of this programme will be broadcast on the national network of AIR on January 25 at 10 PM. For the pan-India reach, the regional language versions are also to be broadcast from AIR stations across the country.

To listen to the Tamil version of the symposium, listeners can tune into the Chennai ‘A’ MW station, Tamil DTH, FM Gold. They can also access it through the All India Radio website or they can use the radio station’s mobile app - All India Radio Live.
