The fallout of the ball-tampering scandal continues to hit Australian cricket with major sponsors parting ways over what is being termed the players’ ‘conspiracy’ to cheat.

While fund manager Magellan Financial Group discontinued its three-year deal, sports apparel giant Asics Corporation and Commonwealth Bank of Australia also dropped the cricketers caught in the scandal.

Personal sponsors

“As a result of last week’s event in Cape Town involving members of the Australian men’s cricket team and following the sanctions made by Cricket Australia, Asics has terminated its sponsorship contracts with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft, effective immediately,” said a statement from the apparel company.

Sports apparel maker Asics Corp has exclusive stores across India and is available on popular e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra and Jabong.

Cancelling its sponsorship deals with both vice-captain Warner and Bancroft, the company described their actions as ‘not something that Asics tolerates and are contrary to the values the company stands for.”
