French employees of Goodyear plan to appeal an American judge’s ruling throwing out a lawsuit seeking to save their jobs.
Attorneys for workers in Amiens, France, said on Thursday they will appeal the judge’s ruling in Akron, Ohio, and expect a different outcome on appeal.
The judge says the class-action lawsuit fails to prove claims of contract violations or wrongful interference by the parent company in its French operations.
Goodyear spokesman Keith Price says the company welcomes the ruling.
Plant workers seized the plant’s director and human resources chief for two days in early January to demand bigger severance packages. The managers were released after police intervened.
Goodyear has been trying to restructure or close the plant for more than five years in the face of a shrinking European car market.
