Mozilla to release Firefox launcher for Android

Mozilla plans to release its own Firefox launcher for Android smartphones. Launchers are apps that replace the usual Android home-screen with their own display or surface.

Mozilla developed the app in cooperation with the creators of the EverythingMe launcher. EverythingMe uses a contextual adaptive search to present users with relevant apps and information, depending on the time of day and location.

The Firefox launcher will offer similar functionality combined with the Firefox for Android Internet browser.

Mozilla has not said when the new app will be available.
