Myanmar Consul General Pyi Soe was killed in an road accident in Jharkhand’s Giridih district, on Friday. His wife and two other people travelling in the car.
According to Akhilesh B Variar, SP-Giridih, Jharkhand Police, Soe, along with his family, was travelling to Kolkata when their car rammed into a truck at Belagi More in Nimighat area of the State.
Pyi Soe was appointed as Consul General at The Consulate-General Of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in 2016.
“While Soe died at the incident site, his wife and two other people accompanying him have suffered injuries. After primary treatment at a local hospital, they were shifted to State capital Ranchi,” the SP said.
The truck driver has been apprehended and the vehicle impounded. No foul play is immediately suspected, police said.
