Global IT and business processing services firm, Genpact, has tied up with Ashoka University to create and launch the ‘Genpact Centre for Women’s Leadership’ (GCWL) at the university campus. The company has pledged to set aside Rs 20 crore for the creation of the centre as part of its corporate social responsibility effort.

"We are delighted to partner Ashoka University to drive a cause that I personally believe in and drive very strongly — women’s leadership," said Tiger Tyagarajan, President & CEO of Genpact, who was at the campus to inaugurate the centre. "Through GCWL we aim to create an ecosystem of knowledge, resources and advocacy that will help create the next generation of women in leadership roles."

The partnership aims to drive gender-inclusive growth with a vision to create a balanced distribution of income, resources, and decision-making powers across sectors.

The centre will carry out research, establish thought leadership, and conduct proactive advocacy to help create contemporary laws and policies that promote equality and women’s leadership. It will co-create a networking platform for all stakeholders working on issues of women’s empowerment.

GCWL will also conduct courses, training and mentorship programmes to develop and enhance leadership skills.

“The centre for women's leadership is likely the first example globally of such an initiative being housed in a co-educational setting," said Pramath Raj Sinha, Founder and Trustee of Ashoka University. "It recognises that impacting women's leadership is also about grooming gender-sensitive men as leaders.”

The centre will host an annual marquee event to showcase its activities and achievements by women, regular workshops, seminars, and guest speakers.
