Within days of its global launch, Lamborghini has brought the new Huracan LP 580-2 to the Indian market too. The new rear-wheel drive model is more powerful, dynamic and true to Lambo's roots with its rear-wheel drive set up.

The Huracan LP 580-2, which can go from standstill to 100kmph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 230kmph, features a new, more dynamic front and rear design. With larger air intakes and a sportier front profile, the 580-2 stands out within the Huracan line-up. It is expected to complement the existing four-wheel drive Huracan LP 610-4 and the Spyder. Design changes are also meant to support the new car's increased performance abilities. The Huracan 580-2 also features a hybrid chassis made from aluminium and carbon-fibre.

Lambo's official release mentions that the new 580-2 has been engineered and tuned for a pure driving experience. The naturally aspirated 5.2-litre, V10 engine sends 580HP to the rear axle.

As in the other Huracán models, the LP 580-2 features cylinder deactivation to improve engine efficiency. When full engine capacity is not required, five of the ten cylinders are temporarily deactivated by switching off one cylinder bank. When the driver accelerates, the system switches back instantaneously to ten-cylinder mode, while being virtually impossible to detect by the driver. This feature reduces fuel consumption and emissions dramatically.

The power available should also be viewed in the context of the weight reduction that the 580-2 has achived. With a dry-weight of just 1,389 kgs, it is 33 kgs lighter than the four-wheel driver version.

“This is the purest expression of Huracan till date with class-leading technological refinements designed to deliver sheer performance,” said Pavan Shetty, head of Lamorghini India, speaking at the launch.

The Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) – the Huracán’s sensor system placed in the center of gravity of the car, tracing all 3D movements – has also been implemented in the rear-wheel drive version. It provides real time information to the optional Magneto Rheological Suspension (MRS), steering and stability control systems.

Weight distribution has a rear bias with a 40:60 ratio. A completely new power management set-up with a modified suspension, new steering set-up and retuned stability and traction controls is also what the new Huracan 580-2 gets. The Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF) seven-speed dual clutch system in the 580-2 ensures fast, seamless gear changes and includes 'launch control' for maximum acceleration from standstill.

The Huracán LP 580-2 sits on new, different-sized (front/rear) 19” Kari rims fitted with Pirelli PZero tyres that have been developed exclusively for the rear-wheel drive car. The LP 580-2 is being priced at ₹2.99 crore, ex-showroom, Delhi.
