Amit Patni and Arihant Patni have acquired a minority stake in Mumbai-based boutique advisory firm Waterfield Advisors for an undisclosed amount.

The strategic partnership between the two parties aims to jointly create a platform to offer comprehensive family office solutions to clients to create long-term partnerships. The funding will be deployed to strengthen the advisory firm’s family office services portfolio as well as expand its offerings in the domestic market as per a statement released to the press.

Amit and Arihant Patni, sons of Gajendra Patni, post their exit from Patni Computers in 2011, have anchored and co-founded funds including Nirvana Venture Advisors, Elysium Investment Advisors and The Hive India.

Amit Patni said: “Having experienced the challenges faced by a single family office since setting up our own family office in 2002, we felt that there existed a strong latent need for family office services. Our investment in Waterfield Advisors aims to jointly address this need and build this area of expertise in India.”

“Backed by a strategic vision to offer a holistic approach towards asset management and capital preservation for family offices, we are confident that the new platform will be successful in institutionalising and expanding family offices in India,” added Arihant Patni in a press statement.

Soumya Rajan, Managing Director and CEO, Waterfield Advisors Private Limited said: “Against a backdrop of a greater number of successful Indian entrepreneurs, the recovering financial climate and increased competition in the market place, there is an urgent need to provide family office services, consolidate personal and family wealth, manage succession and help entrepreneurs develop, and grow their operating businesses.

“Our partnership with Amit and Arihant will enable us to further realise this vision and fuel our expansion by drawing on our synergies,” she added.
