Spot pepper prices ruled steady on matching demand and supply while the running contract on IPSTA moved up on tight availability amid good demand. On the terminal market, 11 tonnes arrived and traded at ₹711-712 a kg. In the overseas markets, other origins were showing firmer trend as Vietnam is reported to have sold off its current crop while Sri Lankan crop is said to be small. Indian parity has declined following weakening of the rupee against the dollar and thus the gap in the parity between Malabar and other origins is being narrowed down. Malabar still continues to stay above others, they said. Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹69,700 (ungarbled) and ₹72,700 (garbled) a quintal. June contract on the IPSTA increased by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹72,000. Export prices were at $10,700 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,950 for the US.
