The chief ministers of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are to meet on November 29 (Thursday) in Bangalore to find a solution to the Cauvery water sharing dispute.
A statement from the Tamil Nadu Government says that the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa will travel to Banglore on Thursday to meet her Karnataka counterpart and hold talks on the Cauvery water dispute.
The meeting comes after the Supreme Court on Monday suggested that the two chief ministers meet to find a solution to the problem.
Tamil Nadu had approached the Supreme Court to give a direction to the Karnataka Government to release Cauvery water for samba cultivation.

Why is it so difficult for the CMs of these two states to see the larger
picture of the issue and show some statesmanship in resolving the
matter. After all each one of our CMs are aspiring PMs; it needs a
broader outlook and a more statesmanship attitude. They have to lobby
within their own constituency of supporters to allow them a larger role
with a nationalistic outlook. The stint as railway minister to both Lalu
and Nitish was largely responsible for them th realise and view the
issues in a much larger perspective.
Both the CM's should act like the PM of the country and look at ways to
increase the water to both the states - One way is to link the northern
river by a project jointly funded by the two states and the center.
