The recently-concluded EICMA in Milan, Italy, saw an impressive fleet of new motorcycles being unveiled. While a lot of these beauties will not be making it to Indian shores anytime soon, there is still a sizeable number that will, including the likes of a few from Benelli, Royal Enfield’s own all-new 650 cc twin cylinder range, etc.

But here’s the icing on the cake. We can expect to see ‘The most beautiful bike’ at EICMA 2017 in India sometime next year. The Ducati Panigale V4 — the first motorcycle from the iconic Italian brand to run a V4 engine — was voted the most beautiful motorcycle at the show by over 16,000 people. The Panigale, with about 61 per cent of the votes, became the ninth Ducati motorcycle to win the award in the 13 years of the award’s running.

The 1,103 cc engine mated to a six-speed transmission system returns a peak power of 211 bhp at 13,000 rpm and a peak torque of 124 Nm at 10,000 rpm. The motorcycle also gets ABS, Ducati Power Launch and Ducati electronic suspension. It weighs 175 kg and is expected to come to India next year.

Harley Davidson also had a new showcase at the EICMA — the 2018 Sport Glide. The latest addition to the American brand’s Softail range, the Sport Glide gets a sleeker, aggressive look in an all-new Black Mantis colour. The motorcycle comes with detachable fairing and panniers — thereby making it more practical for use in the city when not touring. It is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine that produces a peak torque of 146 Nm. While ABS and cruise control are standard on the Sport Glide, it also comes with a USB port and key-less ignition. We will have to wait and see if this one will make it to the Indian market.
