Priya Entertainment Pvt Ltd (PEPL) is planning to spread its Bioscope brand of multiplexes in eastern India as well as in Bhutan. The company is planning to set up its second multiplex in Durgapur and the first ever multiplex in the Bhutanese capital of Thimpu.

The Thimpu Bioscope will come up in collaboration with Tai Industries – the owners of Druk brand of industrial and agri products.

Priya Entertainment is a prominent film production and distribution house in the eastern region. The company opened its first multiplex at Axis Mall in New Town satellite township of Kolkata last year. The company also manages a number of multi-complexes that host both theatres and movies in West Bengal.

“The second Bioscope mulitplex is likely to be inaugurated in Durgapur's Junction Mall by October 2011 and the one in Thimpu will be inaugurated around December 2011,” Ms Chaity Ghosh, senior general manager, Priya Entertainments, said.

The company is planning to set up a single screen cinema hall in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, during this year. Total investment during the year is expected to be Rs 12 crore.

“We are also exploring business opportunities in Gujarat's Vapi and Ahmedabad,” Ms Ghosh said.

The company is also looking at opportunities to diversify into luxury eco tourism projects in Birbhum in West Bengal. According to the company, the project may be located close to Shantiniketan at an estimated investment of Rs 20-30 crore.

“We are likely to firm up the project plans once the Assembly Election is over in May,” she said.
