Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier said that the demand for business and commercial aircraft is set to grow significantly in the Asia-Pacific region and particularly in India over the next 20 years as the number of billionaires goes up.

The aircraft manufacturer has projected that over 4,740 deliveries in Asia-Pacific region, including China and India business aircraft are expected over the next 20 years. Of this 1,340 business jet deliveries are expected in India alone, Nilesh Pattanayak, Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific, Bombardier, said.

He said that the demand in India and in the region will be driven by economic growth, globalisation and the increase in the number of billionaires in those markets. By having a most comprehensive portfolio of products, that suit specific requirements, Bombardier has the advantage of offering the right mobility solution for busy CEO’s and a business man.

Speaking at the Bombardier Chalet at India Aviation 2014, he said from light jets to large, ultra long-range aircraft, Bombardier offers a solution to all customers from its portfolio.

Referring to the commercial aircraft segment, he said about 275 Bombardier Dash 8/Q-Series turboprops, CRJ regional jets and CSeries airliners are in service in the region with orders from over 35 customers and operators in the Asia-pacific region, excluding China.

Bombardier’s regional sales and marketing team is based in Singapore and Mumbai to provide the right solution for the current and prospective customers, he said.

Highlighting extremely fuel efficient engines and the potential to customise the aircraft, he said that the long term outlook for India shows upward market covering aircraft with seating capacity from 20 to 149.
