Gulf Oil Lubricants, manufacturers and marketers of ‘long-drain’ engine oils, and Mahindra & Mahindra, the world’s biggest tractor maker by volume, said they would collaborate to offer “the best in class” lubricants.

According to the agreement, Gulf Oil will manufacture and supply ‘Mahindra Genuine Oil’ under the brand name Mahindra M-Star Super for its dealer workshop network, along with a Mahindra-Gulf co-branded lubricant line for the bazaar segment under the Gulf XHD M Tractor brand.

“Gulf Oil and Mahindra & Mahindra’s partnership for the tractor segment is an extension of our relationship in the passenger segment, and a step in the direction to be one of the top three lubricant brands in the industry,” said Ravi Chawla, Managing Director, Gulf Oil Lubricants, in a statement.

With a robust distribution network of over 50,000 retailers, the company is confident of ensuring product availability closer to the farms, Chawla said.

He added that long-drain lubricants were the company's strength, and that a large part of the research and product development was based out of India, with its main facility at Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

Bharatendu Kapoor, Senior Vice-President, Sales, Channel and Customer Care, Farm Division, Mahindra, added in the statement that the Mahindra M-Star Super oil brand would offer farmers the opportunity to enhance productivity, while ensuring a lower cost of tractor ownership.
