Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Private Ltd (KDHP) has bagged four awards in the 7th edition of the Golden Leaf India Awards for South Indian teas. The company has won two awards each in the orthodox and CTC categories enabling it to top the winners' list in 2011.
The annual awards, a joint initiative of Upasi and the Tea Board of India, seek to unfold the quality characteristics of South Indian tea. The awards were presented by Mr Ambalavanan, Executive Director, Tea Board, of India, at the national convention on South India Teas held at Coimbatore recently.
The annual awards help the South Indian teas showcase quality teas that evoke great response. The shortlisted teas that qualified for the first and second level of screening were evaluated by a panel of internationally renowned tasters, a release said. KDHP has been consistently winning awards in the Golden Leaf India Awards since its inception, and has so far received 20 awards.
