Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd has commissioned its first solar plant of 2 MW. The plant is located at MCL’s headquarters at Sambalpur in Odisha. Coal Secretary SK Srivastava, formally commissioned the Rs 13.54 crore plant on Monday, MCL said in a statement.
The plant is expected to reduce power bill of MCL by Rs 1.11 crore a year. The coal secretary asked the MCL management to engage with the Railway authority for speedy completion of the 53-km Jharsuguda-Barpalli line, crucial for higher evacuation of coal from MCL mines.
