Mahindra Powerol, part of the diversified Mahindra & Mahindra Group, on Wednesday announced the launch of Intelli series of UPS products here packed with advanced features for use in home and small offices.

The company, which currently markets its UPS systems in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and few select parts of the country, plans to have a pan-India presence by next year.

Engaged in the manufacture and supply of diesel gen sets for various applications, including for telecom towers, Mahindra Powerol had entered into manufacture and sales of UPS systems in early 2010. The Powerol division currently has revenues of Rs.1,000 crore, with diesel gen sets business contributing a major share. The UPS division contributes about Rs.30 crore and is likely to be a Rs.10 crore business this year, the company maintained.

Mr.P.Palaniappan, Senior Vice President and Business Head, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ltd., said “the company has managed to grow its diesel gen set business with a market share of about 50 per cent in the telecom towers. It is estimated that about 1.75 lakh towers are now powered by Mahindra gen-sets. Building on the brand equity, we plan to replicate similar success in the UPS business.”

Launching its new range of UPS systems, Mr.Palaniappan said that the company is looking at being a total energy solutions provider for not just businesses through back up diesel gen sets but also to home and small office segment users. The company now has Eco, Hi-speed and Intelli range of UPS systems, which are manufactured at two facilities based in Tamil Nadu and Himachal Pradesh.

The new range of inverters feature intelligent charging algorithms which make its management convenient. These UPS systems could be managed better as it allows different charge modes and also helps in maintaining the battery in different modes and enhances its life, he explained.

The company power solutions range starts from 250 VA and goes up to 5 kVA. To each out, the company is also in the process of expanding its distributors even as it adds more sales points to its network of over 3,000.
