Solar Power Systems, the flagship company of Solex Group, has launched Solex Hybrid Solar air-conditioner for the first time in India. It works both on conventional electricity and solar power.
Mr Laxminarayan, Chairman, Solex Group, said the solar AC operates also on normal power supply, while taking advantage of solar energy for its efficient and economical operation. It has a small solar collector panel which can be fixed on the outside wall (not necessary on terrace). Solar AC can save up to 30 per cent electricity cost, he said.
The 0.75 tonne AC costs Rs 45,000, one tonne comes for Rs 52,000, while 1.50 tonne is priced at Rs 71,000 a unit.
The Mumbai-based Solar Power Systems plans to tap the export market in the near future. Other products of the group include solar street light and lantern, solar aqua heater, solar home light system, solar ceiling fan and mini washing machine.
