Washington Apples has become the ‘Official Fruit’ of Delhi Daredevils in the ongoing IPL 6 season.
Washington Apples, one of the leading fruit brands in India, announced its partnership with Delhi Daredevils on Thursday.
“Our growers and shippers of Washington Apples are delighted to be associated with the Delhi Daredevils. With this association, we are happy to showcase and promote six new varieties of Washington Apples during this IPL season,” said Keith Sunderlal, Indian representative of the Washington Apple Commission, said in a statement.
The six new varieties include Washington Fuji, Gala, Honeycrisp, Cripps Pink, Granny Smith and Braeburn.
“The demand for Red Delicious Washington Apples is always on the rise, but this season, we are offering additional choices to our consumers. Each variety is grown to provide a different crunch, crispiness, sweetness or tartness. We are promoting Washington Apples as a healthy, good for you, anytime snack and we share the Daredevils beliefs on health, fitness and nutrition,” Sunderlal said.
India is among the top five markets for the Washington Apple and sales have been growing at over 20 per cent annually during the past five years. North India is the largest region, in terms of sales for Washington Apples and Delhi in particular is a key market for us, Sunderlal said.
In the previous IPL season, Washington Apples had partnered with Chennai Super Kings.
