DSK Group plans to launch two more bikes, both in the cruiser segment, from the Korean company Hyosung stable later during the year.

DSK Motowheels, a part of the Rs 4,000-crore DSK Group, has finalised plans to set up a manufacturing base with an outlay of about Rs 300 crore for the Hyosung range. It plans to bring in mass market bikes in the 125 cc and 150 cc segment.

Mr Shirish Kulkarni, Director of DSK Motowheels, said: “An Indian plant and 90 per cent localisation will enable us to offer bikes cheaper by about 35-40 per cent as we will save on various imports.’’

Addressing a press conference here to launch the GT250R, he said: “The company plans to roll out two more bikes in the cruiser segment. While one will be in the 250 cc category, the other one planned is in the 650 cc segment.’’

Described as the Big Boy, the GT250R is priced at Rs 2.8 lakh ex-showroom.

“We are in the process of setting up a research and development centre initially which will be followed by the setting up of the manufacturing unit. The R&D centre will play a vital role in localising these bikes and also in finalising vendors,’’ he said.

The company has 18 dealerships and expects to close it with 40 by fiscal end.
