South Korea-based S&T Motors has launched the Hyosung GT 250R motorcycle in collaboration with DSK Motowheels today. Priced at Rs 2.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the superbike will be available in 18 pan-India dealerships of DSK Motowheels in the next five days. Deliveries will begin by the end of this month.

This is the DSK Group's first venture into the two-wheeler segment. “It is a weekend bike targeted at the youth. It is a premium lifestyle product and will be sold at a premium,” said Mr Shirish D Kulkarni, Director of Pune-based DSK Motowheels.

The company is confident of selling about 3,000 bikes this fiscal.

The company plans to establish a manufacturing plant in India in the next 18 months. “We want to achieve 90 per cent localisation of the product. Once this happens, the price of the bike will come down to less than Rs 1.5 lakh,” said Mr Kulkarni.

Last week, DSK Motowheels bought Garware Motors' motorcycle business through which it acquired the rights to market and sell Hyosung bikes in India.

Apart from the Hyosung GT 250R, the company will also distribute the Hyosung GV250 and the Hyosung GV650.
