Employees of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) on Wednesday went ahead with their agitation despite the management’s invitation for discussions on their charter of demands.

Leaders of DVC Shramik Union turned down the offer by DVC’s HRD Officer K K Singh to visit Kolkata for talks on the pretext that “it was too late to call off the scheduled agitation at the last moment,” Union spokesman Sidheswar Prasad said.

“Our union’s General Secretary Jeevan Aich received the invitation from the HRD department but as preparations for agitation was made at all the units it could not be cancelled at such a short notice,” he added.

He said the union would talk to the management over its long pending demands like framing a transfer policy for all employees, including officers, checking corruption, control over expenditure in the organisation, uniform career progression and other demands.

The employees staged demonstrations near the gates of Maithon Hydal Power Station, Panchet Hydal Power Station, Bokaro Thermal Power Station, Chandrapura Thermal Power, Koderma Thermal Power.

Prasad also said the union has also planned to stage demonstration at the DVC headquarters in Kolkata on August 12.
