A northeast-southwest trough line connecting Chhattisgarh with south Tamil Nadu has cast a spell over the M. Chinnaswami Stadium, venue for today’s IPL match.
These pre-monsoon trough lines with lower air pressure allow thunderstorms to breed along, and often burst into rain/thundershowers in the later afternoons.
The trough is visible even in this morning’s wind map, as put out by India Meteorological Department.
The winds are going to be westerly fanning in from the Arabian Sea, but might lose some of their moisture along the way as they bypass coastal and adjoining interior Karnataka.
Still, the moisture-carry is expected to be the level of up to 75 per cent, which measures up ideally for setting up some showery weather.
Mercury is likely not to cross the 35 deg Celsius-mark, but the raised humidity levels could likely make it stuffy out there.
