Power transmission and infrastructure company, KEC International, has secured its first order in the water business worth Rs 31 crore. The order from the Water Resource Department of Madhya Pradesh Government is for renovation, repair and remodelling of a canal under the Urmil Tank Project in Chattrapur district.
The contract is scheduled for completion in 18 months.
KEC said it plans to mark its presence in the complete value chain of water treatment and water resource management, including irrigation, embankment, flood control and construction of dams, barrages, canals and tunnels.
Tie-up with German co
Recently, the company tied up with a Bioworks AG of Germany, for advanced technologies such as activated sludge process, sequential batch reactor and rotating bed bio-reactor. Bioworks specialises in design and execution of water and wastewater treatment systems and has executed projects in several countries across North America, Europe and Asia.
Mr Ramesh Chandak, MD & CEO, KEC, said over last few years, KEC has been focusing on diversification in infrastructure EPC businesses to capitalise its knowledge, capabilities, experience and skills related to turnkey/EPC project management. After successful diversification in to power distribution, substation and railways, water is another step in that direction.
