Power systems and transmission equipment manufacturer KEC International Ltd has secured new orders worth Rs 795 crore.
While one of the three orders in the transmission business space is from Sri Lanka, the orders for power system equipment are from Kenya.
In a communication to the stock exchanges, KEC, belonging to the RPG group, said the three orders for transmission equipment are worth Rs 600 crore. While two are from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), the other order is from Ceylon Electricity Board, Sri Lanka. The order from Sri Lanka is valued at Rs 54 crore and orders from PGCIL are worth Rs 546 crore.
KEC has got three orders for power system equipment from Kenya worth Rs 195 crore.
Mr Ramesh Chandak, Managing Director and CEO, KEC, said the company has been getting steady orders from Kenya for substations. The company has also strengthened its presence in the SAARC region in the past six months, securing orders for transmission lines from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The shares (face value Rs 2) of KEC, which has a significant presence in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) space in the infrastructure sector, were trading at Rs 62.10, up Rs 3.35 or 5.70 per cent, in the BSE with a trading volume of 1.21 lakh shares.
