Kent RO Systems Limited is set to commission its new manufacturing facility set up at Noida with an outlay of Rs 150 crore later this month.
The commissioning of the plant on September 24 will enable the company add capacity of six lakh units per annum, which will effectively double the existing capacity. The other manufacturing facility at Rourkee has a capacity of 6,00,000 units per annum.
Mahesh Gupta, Chairman of Kent RO, said, “The company has completed 20 years of operations and now has a market share of about 40 per cent and exports about 5 per cent of the products to some select markets. Apart from expanding the range of products, we expect exports to go up with the new plant.”
Speaking on the sidelines of launch of new product line up from the company stable, Gupta said, “The focus is on adding more products while strengthening the water purifier business. The water purifier market has grown to be a Rs 3,500 crore market in the organised segment, with a penetration of 3 per cent and registering annual growth of about 10 per cent.”
The company closed last financial year with a sales of Rs 850 crore, up from Rs 760 crore it registered a year before. “We expect to close the current financial year with a turnover of over Rs 950 crore and may even get closer to Rs 1000 crore mark.”
The penetration for water purifier in the country is low at 3 per cent as against 10 per cent for automatic washing machines, he said expressing concern.
Kent has come out with next gen RO water purifiers equipped with ultra violet protection in purified water storage tank. This is useful when any RO water purifier is out of use for a longer period of time. It protects it from bacteria and external impurities.
A layer of security through UV-Led protection has been added in the storage tank. This ensures the purified water does not get re-infected by external impurities and stays pure for longer durations of dormancy.
