LG Electronics appointed Kim Ki-Wan as the new Managing Director of its India operations, effective August 1. He is currently the Executive Vice-President of LG’s Home Entertainment Overseas Sales & Marketing Group, the company said on Monday.
Kim, who has been with LG for over 30 years, has held various positions and will replace Soon Kwon, who will take over as the global head of LG’s Information Display business. Kwon, who held the position of MD of the India operations for the past five years, will relocate to LG’s Korea headquarters. “LG India has strengthened its market leadership in consumer durables under Kwon’s tenure and continued to register a double-digit growth in core consumer durable business in the first half of 2015 as in 2014 as well,” read a company statement.
Kwon said, “LG India has today grown to be among the top five markets globally for LG Electronics, and maintains its leadership position in consumer durables. I am sure under his (Kim’s) leadership, LG India will ensure stronger growth for the company.”
