Tablez, the retail arm of Lulu Group International, will launch Go Sport, the French multi-sport brand, in India next month.
Sports is the next major segment the company will enter. In the last two years, it brought into India international retail brands such as Springfield, Women’s secret, Toys’R’Us, Babies’R’Us and Build-A-Bear, Adeeb Ahamed, Managing Director, Tablez, said.
The first Go Sport showroom will come up in Mumbai, followed by another in Bengaluru, he told BusinessLine . The showroom will have all the major global sports brands, he said on the sidelines of opening Galito’s (South African restaurant chain) second outlet in Chennai (after Forum Mall), and fifth in India.
“We plan to open 20 Galito’s outlets across India by end of 2020,” he said. Galito’s speciality is in flame-grilled chicken, and the signature peri-peri has become a crowd favourite in places (Kochi and Chennai) where the restaurant was launched, he said.
Ahamed said the company plans to invest another ₹100 crore in the current financial year to expand across segments, including food and beverage, sports, toys and apparel. Tablez will more than quadruple its revenue to nearly ₹250 crore this year as against ,₹60 crore last year, which was the first full of the company’s operations in India. Food and beverage will contribute nearly 40 per cent of revenue and the rest will come from other segments, including toys and ice cream, he said.
