Automotive major Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has launched several variants of its light commercial vehicle Jeeto from its Zaheerabad manufacturing plant in Telangana.
The Jeeto range comes packed with different deck sizes and engine options to meet the last mile requirements, including for courier companies and perishable commodities.
The Jeeto is pitted against popular models from the Tata Motors stable, Ace and Zip, and Piaggio Ape.
The Jeeto range is capable of handling a payload of 600 kg to 700 kg. It is being rolled out of the recently-commissioned new extended plant at Zaheerabad.
The all new small commercial vehicle is the first ever product in its category with a modular range of 8 mini-trucks to cater to the varied needs of the sub 1-tonne load segment customers. Priced at Rs 2.32 lakh (ex-showroom Telangana for BSIII), Jeeto will be available in the S, L & X series, catering to mini-truck, micro-truck and three-wheeler customers.
The extended facility of the automotive plant located about 120 km from Hyderabad was inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on April 22.
Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd said, “A true ‘Make-in-India’ vehicle with a modular platform, the Jeeto is poised to redefine the landscape of the small commercial vehicle industry within India and drive positive change by providing its customers with a higher earning potential. The company has invested Rs 300 crore on the plant and on developing the vehicle."

This has resulted in the launch of th Jeeto, India’s first modular small commercial vehicle with multiple options."
This vehicle is seen to play a significant role in last mile distribution and will be a compelling option for both stand operators and small- and medium-scale businessmen and traders, with higher earning potential and better mileage.
Jeeto offers multiple options to choose from -- 2 powertrains of 8.2 kW (11 HP) and 11.9 Kw (16 HP), 2 payloads of 600 kg and 700 kg and 3 deck lengths of 1630mm (5.5ft), 1780mm (6ft) and 1930 mm (6.5ft).
These combinations will be available across a range of 8 mini-trucks, namely S series (S6-11, S6-16), L series (L6-11, L6-16, L7-11, L7-16) and X series (X7-11, X7-16) to haul goods across different industries.
The m_Dura, an all-new Direct Injection (DI) diesel engine is designed for refined performance and delivers fuel efficiency of upto 37.6 km/l.
It comes with a warranty of 2 years/40,000km (whichever is earlier).
The market for the small commercial vehicle segment is about 2.5 lakh units per annum and projected to grow by 5-7 per cent this year.
