Ending the long wait by her Indian fans, the doe-eyed artist with a lingering voice, Norah Jones, will finally kick-off her first-ever India tour in March this year.

Jones, daughter of the late Indian sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, will be touring Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore as part of a music festival organised by Only Much Louder.

Widely credited for popularising the music genre of jazz, the versatile American singer, songwriter, pianist and actress first shot to fame with her 2002 release of Come Away With Me .

Not only did the album make a clean sweep at the prestigious Grammy Awards in 2003, but also signalled a shift away from the prevailing synthetic pop music of that time and more importantly marked the arrival of a new icon for modern jazz music.

Since then, Jones has sold over 40 million albums worldwide, releasing a series of critically acclaimed and commercially successful solo albums — Feels Like Home (2004), Not Too Late (2007), The Fall (2009), and Little Broken Hearts (2012) — as well as two albums with her country collective The Little Willies .

In her latest album, Jones re-invents her musical self from her signature sweet, innocent-sounding voice to a bolder fuller avatar.

The tracks dipped in distant familiarity are tinged with a new kind of confidence bringing her versatile prowess to the fore.

The festival’s premiere show in Mumbai ‘A Summer’s Day’ will feature the Main Stage, and the Think Pink stage, in partnership with Women’s Cancer Initiative – Tata Memorial Hospital. Through this partnership, OML and WCI hope to raise awareness around breast cancer in India.

The artists from across the country who will feature on the Think Pink stage include singer-songwriter Siddharth Basrur, Nischay Parekh accompanied by drummer Jivraj Singh and alternative rock act Spud In The Box .

A part of the proceeds of ‘A Summer’s Day’ will go towards Women’s Cancer Initiative-Tata Memorial Hospital.

The acclaimed songstress would be accompanied by Matthew Stephen Ward, known by his stage name M. Ward. In addition to his solo work the singer-songwriter and guitarist is known as a member of bands She & Him and Monsters of Folk.
