ONGC has found more gas in a producing block in Agartala, Tripura. The company's board here on Monday took note of this find.
In a statement ONGC said, “It has found more gas in Tripura in well AD 30 located on the northwest flank of Agartala Dome in Agartala PML of Assam-Arakan Basin. On testing, one of its sand zone flowed gas at the rate of 1,13,400 cubic metre/day.” ONGC is producing 0.6 mscmd of gas from the block.
“The success of this well has opened up the intervening low area between Agartala and Konaban structures and also gives impetus to exploration of more such areas on the flanks of structures in Tripura fold belt.” The discovery has been already notified to DGH. Mr A.K. Hazarika, Chairman and Managing Director, ONGC, said, “This discovery will go a long way as far as our target of 5.5 million cubic metre a day of gas production for fuelling the ONGC Tripura Power project.”
Dr D. Chandrasekharam has joined ONGC board as Independent Director. Dr Chandrasekharam is also on the board of Western Coalfields Ltd and Indian Rare Earths Ltd.
