Kolkata-based Prayag Group on Monday announced its foray into FMCG sector. The company launched 30 products across personal, home and kitchen care segments.
According to Managing Director Avik Bagchi, the company would use its direct selling network to sell these products across West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and North-eastern states.
“There is an untapped potential in the direct selling sector and we will be focusing on our growth through this. We are hopeful that our effective distribution network …will facilitate us in becoming a foremost player in the direct selling FMCG sector,” Bagchi said.
Referring to India Direct Selling Association (IDSA) data, the company said the direct selling market in the country is expected to touch Rs 10,000 crore by 2014-15 from around Rs 6,500 crore in FY12.
