Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd - Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has recorded 3 per cent growth in finished steel production during April-November when compared to the corresponding period last year, according to a press release.

The plant also registered the highest production of finished steel of 2,36,838 tonnes in November, the best during the current financial year. Saleable steel production and value-added steel production registered 2 per cent growth during April-November in comparison with the corresponding period last year.

On the techno-economic front, blast furnace productivity, specific energy consumption, LD productivity and specific water consumption registered growth of 27, 4, 4 and 2 per cent respectively during November.

During the period under review the company recorded a higher turnover of Rs 7,819 crore. Sale of iron & steel, saleable steel and special steel went up by 10, 12 and 11 per cent respectively over the corresponding period last year. Exports saw 142 per cent growth at Rs 519 crore. By-product sales during November amounted to Rs 68 crore, the highest since inception.
