Sterling and Wilson, part of Shapoorji Pallonji Group, has been awarded with the contract of setting up a 50-MW solar power plant by NTPC near Kadiri, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of grid connected 50-MW Solar PV project on a turnkey basis. Sterling and Wilson will also be responsible for carrying out the operation and maintenance of the solar power plant for a period of five years.

Sterling and Wilson will use domestic cells and modules for this project in accordance with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s theme of 'Make in India'.

Bikesh Ogra, President, Sterling and Wilson, Electrical & Solar Business, in a statement said: “It’s an honour to partner with NTPC and be entrusted with the responsibility of setting up their 50 MW Solar PV project in Anantapur. The plant shall meet the stringent NTPC technical specifications. We will also take care of the operations and maintenance of this plant for the next five years from the date of successful completion of its trial run."

Sterling and Wilson is expected to complete the project within 12 months from the date of commencement of work.
