Sterling and Wilson (S&W) has recently set up a 32-MW solar power plant for Clean Solar Power (Dhar) Pvt Ltd, a SPV floated by Hero Future Energies at Goyalkhedi/Kamlakhedi village in Madhya Pradesh.

The project was awarded to Clean Solar Power under Phase 2 Batch 1 of JNNSM with 10 MW under Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) and the remaining 22 MW under Open Content Requirement (OCR).

S&W’s scope of work included the design, engineering, supply, fabrication, construction, inspection, installation, testing and commissioning of the power plant that is spread across 171.60 acres.

The major engineering challenge faced in this project was that the site had a 20 metre wide rainfed stream running from North to South dividing the plant intwo parts with an elevation difference of 22 metres.

The array layout was prepared as per the site contours without affecting the yield and natural rain water flow. Sterling and Wilson also provided a drainage system along the internal roads for discharge of rain water into the existing natural streams.

S&W has used the fixed tilt technology for mounting solar PV panels for optimal solar irradiance in this project based on the geographical location of the plant. The entire power plant for Hero Future Energies from signing of the contract to the commissioning of the project was completed in 135 days.

S&W is part of Shapoorji Pallonji Group and one of India’s leading solar EPC with over 350 MW of solar projects on ground.
